Do I need to book in advance to board the Petit Train de La Mure?

We strongly recommend booking in advance on our website, as trains fill up quickly.

 

Do you accept phone bookings?

We do not accept reservations by phone. You can book on our website. For payments by holiday vouchers (chèques vacances), CSE tickets, or Passeport France Bleu, please submit your request by email including the following details: date, time, number of people, contact information, etc. We will then get in touch with you to finalise the booking.

 

Do you accept holiday vouchers (chèques vacances)?

We accept holiday vouchers at the physical ticket office only, not online. We recommend booking your tickets by email and paying on the day of your journey.

 

Do I need to present my tickets at the ticket office if I purchased them online?

There is no need to go to the ticket office. You can go directly to the boarding gates where you scan your train tickets.

 

Is there a reduced fare for seniors and students?

We do not offer reduced fares for seniors or students. However, we do offer children’s fares for ages 4 to 15, and children under 4 travel free of charge.

 

Is there a special rate for people with disabilities?

If the person holds a disability card indicating their need for a companion, the companion may benefit from a free ticket. Please make your booking by email.

 

Do I need to book for the Le Panoramique restaurant?

Reservations are not required at the restaurant, except for groups.

 

Can we dine at Le Panoramique restaurant without taking the train?

No, access to Le Panoramique restaurant is only possible by train.

 

Where is Le Panoramique restaurant located?

The restaurant is a 5-minute walk from the Grand Balcon terminus platform.

 

Is the train capacity the same online as at the ticket office?

Yes, if the train is fully booked on our website, it will also be fully booked on site.

 

Is the journey accessible for pushchairs/wheelchairs and people with reduced mobility?

One of our carriages is accessible for wheelchair users, with platforms equipped with lift systems. However, lightweight pushchairs may not be suitable.

  • What is the DUO ticket?

The DUO ticket includes the Petit Train round trip and a visit to the Mine Image museum.

 

Where is the Mine Image museum located?

The Mine Image museum is located in La Motte d’Aveillans, with a scheduled stop on the return journey.

 

Can we eat at the museum?

Yes, the museum has a picnic room and a terrace for fine weather.

 

Do we have to walk through a tunnel upon arrival at Grand Balcon?

Two short tunnels must be walked through upon your arrival at Grand Balcon to reach Le Panoramique restaurant and the Belvédère viewpoint.

 

How long is the walk between the train stop at Grand Balcon and the Belvédère?

Approximately 15 minutes, with the round trip taking around 30 minutes. The walking path is approximately 400 metres long.

 

What is the ground like between the train stop and the Belvédère?

The beginning of the path is on a hard surface through a gently sloping tunnel, then the rest of the walk is on a gentle slope with compacted gravel.

 

Are there toilets on the train?

There are no functioning toilets on the train. Please use the facilities at the departure station in La Mure or at Le Panoramique restaurant.

 

Are the tunnels along the route lit, and how long do they last?

There are 5 tunnels along the route, all lit except one. The longest, the Festinière tunnel, is lit and lasts approximately 2 minutes 30 seconds; the others last from a few seconds to one minute.

 

  • Are animals allowed on the train? And in the Mine Image museum?

Animals are welcome on the train with a €5 ticket booked online, but they are not admitted to the museum.

 

Can we change our tickets if the weather is bad on the day of the journey?

The train operates in all weather conditions; therefore, it is not possible to postpone or cancel tickets due to weather. Enjoy a great experience whatever the weather!

 

Can I cancel a reservation?

Tickets are cancellable within 14 days of the purchase date, except on the day of travel. Please refer to our general terms and conditions for any questions regarding cancellations.

 

What types of accommodation can be found near the station?

You will find various campsites and hotels nearby, listed on the tourist office website.
